District Brew Yards produces around 500 barrels (1,000 kegs) of beer per month consisting of 40 – 44 different SKUs depending on seasonal varieties for the four co-op members: Burnt City, Around the Bend, Bold Dog and Casa Humilde.  Kegs are palatized and stored in a four-tiered cooler with the top-level of racking set at 10’.  In an effort to improve safety and efficiency in the storage operation, D.B.Y. demoed a Big Joe S22 stacker for 3 days, and purchased it immediately.

Dayco Products, LLC located in Hillsdale MI is an industrial rubber molder specializing in crankshaft dampeners for automotive engines.  In October of 1986 Dayco purchased a customized PDI walkie stacker, serial number 319,717, from Big Joe Forklifts to load molds into rubber presses for eight production cells.  After 33 years of daily use the PDI had reached the end of its service life, prompting Dayco to search for a replacement.  Although Big Joe had discontinued the PDI line, it was able to match the custom specs on the PDX20 platform, build the truck in their Wisconsin factory and deliver it in just 8 weeks.

Award winning camping gear manufacturer Big Agnes, headquartered in Steamboat Springs, CO set up a new DC in Salt Lake City, Utah to consolidate several smaller warehouses and improve overall efficiency.  Key elements in achieving their goals were an advanced Inventory Management system, and a J1-192 Joey.  Big Agnes was able to maximize their storage footprint and cube utilization while increasing DC throughput to keep pace with continued growth.  “We’ll fill 300 orders totaling over 1,000 items per day.  The flexibility and size of the Joey allowed us to have narrower aisles and fit more into our space.  Right now, the most valuable thing to us is that space,” said Howard Peterson, DC Manager.
